SightReadle ("we", "us") is a sheet-music library, reader, and sight-reading app available at playsightreadle.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how it's handled. Questions: [email protected].
What we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive the basic profile information Google provides (name and email). Authentication is handled by Supabase. You can use the public SightReadle daily challenge without an account; a library account is only needed to store and sync your music.
Your library
When you add music, we store the PDF files you import, along with details such as title, composer, tags, reading progress, and any annotations you make. Files you import are stored privately and are accessible only to your account.
Audio (SightReadle challenge)
When you play the SightReadle sight-reading challenge, your device's microphone records your playing and sends the audio to our scoring service, which analyzes the notes to generate your score. We use this audio only to produce your score and do not use it for any other purpose. The recording is discarded as soon as your score has been computed; we do not keep it.
Technical data
Our hosting and backend providers keep standard server logs (such as IP address and request times) needed to operate and secure the service.
Usage analytics
We collect first-party, anonymous usage analytics — a random device identifier (not tied to your identity) and non-identifying event data, such as that a challenge was played or a piece was imported — stored in our own backend and used only to improve the product. We do not use third-party trackers, advertising networks, session recording, or cross-site tracking, and these analytics events never include your email, name, file names, or the contents of your music.
How we use your information
- To provide the library and reader and to sync your music across your devices.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To generate your SightReadle scores.
- To respond to you and communicate about your account.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that run the app on our behalf:
- Supabase — database, file storage, and authentication.
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Railway — application hosting.
- Cloudflare — domain and network delivery.
We may also disclose information if required by law.
Storage & security
Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure. Access is controlled so that only your account can read your library — enforced at the database level — and your imported files are served through short-lived private links. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
Data retention
We keep your account and library data while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us, and we will remove it within a reasonable period.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, export of, or deletion of your personal data by emailing [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.
Children
SightReadle is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
